Aloha HWEA members,

Thank you for your commitment to HWEA and our mission to protect Hawaii’s water environment. It is a privilege to serve as your President for the 2026-2027 term, and I am grateful to work alongside such a passionate community of water professionals. Our Past-President, Jessica Agsalda has left big shoes to fill, so I’m excited to receive the torch and continue our mission as HWEA. Imua!

Our committees are already hard at work planning this year’s events and creating new initiatives to engage HWEA members. One initiative I'm excited about is developing connections with Native Hawaiian environmental organizations. Hawaii’s water resources are deeply tied to our history, culture, and communities, and my hope is to create more opportunities for our members to collaborate with groups that perpetuate Native Hawaiian knowledge and stewardship. Through these new relationships, we can grow our understanding of place, expand our network of water stewards, and advance our mission to protect Hawaii’s water environment.

This year, we will host the Biosolids and Water Reuse Conferences, along with several Young Professional and Public Education events. Look for HWEA emails for event details and ways to get involved.

I want to express my appreciation again to the HWEA community. The passion, expertise, and willingness of our members to volunteer and share their knowledge make this organization special. Our work would not be possible without our sponsors and the numerous volunteers who help run our events.

That sentiment reminds me of this olelo noeau:

Aohe hana nui ke alu ia – No task is too big when done together by all.

I invite you to share your ideas, get involved in committees, or help us connect with new partners. By working together, we can achieve even more as we strengthen our community of stewards and drive meaningful change for Hawaii’s water industry. If you would like to share ideas or initiatives that HWEA should consider, please contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

I look forward to collaborating with you throughout the year as we strive for new milestones and honor our shared commitment to Hawaii’s water environment. Here’s to a great year ahead as we continue creating water memories and sharing the stories that make Hawaii’s water community so unique.
