On October 19, 2023, HWEA hosted its third quarterly luncheon of the year at Dave & Buster’s Paina Hale, featuring our guest speakers, Dana Okano (Hawaiian Islands EFC & Hawaii Community Foundation) and Sina Pruder (State of Hawaii-DOH, Environmental Health Administration, Wastewater Division). Their presentation included Dana sharing information on the Hawaiian Islands Environmental Finance Center and Sina speaking on financing options for cesspool conversion.

HWEA Public Education Committee participated in Make a Splash event hosted by Kauai Department of Water on Friday September 15, 2023. Make a Splash is one of state’s largest water education festival. The festival was organized at Vidinha Stadium soccer field in Lihue.

In 2019, the US Water Alliance and DigDeep identified that there are two million individuals in our country who lack access to clean and safe drinking water and sanitation services.
