HWEA will be the organization of dedicated and knowledgeable professionals
recognized for preserving and enhancing the water environment in the Pacific Island Region.

PURPOSE
To provide financial assistance to HWEA members and their dependents seeking higher education, and to encourage academic excellence.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Any dues-paying member of HWEA (including PWO) or member’s dependent (claimed as a dependent on the member’s most recent income tax return). Preference is given to member
    dependents.
  2. Must be at least a freshman in the Fall 2022 semester at a college or university, enrolled full-time in a bachelors, masters, or doctorate degree program. Proof of enrollment will be required
    upon notice of award.
  3. Curriculum of study (or major) to include engineering, public health, or natural sciences (e.g. biology, chemistry, geology, microbiology, oceanography, physics, etc.), as related to
    the protection and enhancement of the water environment and associated public health.
  4. Previous HWEA scholarship awardees are not eligible.

Proposed Amendment to the HWEA Constitution and Bylaws

The HWEA Board of Directors is recommending the following change to the Constitution and Bylaws. This amendment was discussed at the General Membership meeting during the Pacific Water Conference in February and will now be voted on electronically. You may send any questions or comments to Jason Nikaido, at jnikaido@hbws.org. HWEA last approved revisions to the Constitution & Bylaws in 2018. The full HWEA Constitution and Bylaws (Revised May 15, 2018) can be viewed HERE. HWEA conducted a member survey, a SWOT analyses, and a strategic planning session recently in order to update the association's strategic plan. The result is the attached HWEA Strategic Plan 2019-2022.
